If you have lost one or more teeth, you may have heard of dental implants as one of the ways to replace them. Here at Hermes London Dental Practice in Victoria, we believe that implants are, in many cases, the best solution to missing teeth, restoring not just your confidence in your smile but also your ability to eat whatever you like, and helping to prevent the problem of bone loss.
How treatment works
At our Victoria practice, we have a number of different treatment options for patients interested in dental implants. A dental implant replaces the root portion of a missing tooth, and in most cases one implant can support several new teeth in the form of a denture or bridge.
Your dentist carefully plans the placement of your implants so that they will withstand the natural biting and chewing forces in the mouth. Implant placement requires a minor operation, which is carried out under local anaesthetic or conscious sedation here at our Victoria practice. Over the course of a few months your implants will mesh with your jaw bone, before new teeth are attached.
For one missing tooth, your dentist will usually attach a crown to the top of your implant, while for several or all missing teeth, a bridge or denture will be used. Your new teeth will look and act very much like natural teeth, so you won’t be limited to a soft food diet for the rest of your life.
Dental implants have a very high success rate – up to 98%. They are the only permanent way to replace your missing teeth and, with regular visits to the dentist and hygienist, can last you a lifetime.
For people who have already experienced bone loss, we also offer additional procedures to rebuild your bone prior to implant placement at our Victoria clinic.
